General History
Long been a place for druids to come and meet up/expand their knowledge.
Ancient magic results in extremely localized weather patterns.
King Trahorn led the defense of the city twice, saving it from complete destruction.
Once during the unification wars.
Again during the Northern Uprising
Major trade hub on the Merrideth River. Used by many local/smaller communities to ship goods as opposed to making the journey overland.
Hotpass
Named such as this is the major roadway or “pass” into the city. Hot springs, Fumaroles, and Mudspots line the roadway, making the pass hot, humid, and reeking of sulfur. Several people die every year from falling into these caustic pools.
Old District
This was the first area to be settled in Bridgemoor. Upper class housing for this area. The temperature is always between 65 and 75 degrees fahrenheit, with a pleasant and cool breeze. It is neither dry nor humid here.
Troll Hill
Appropriately named, the weather here is similar to Old District, with the exception the occasional thunderstorm. Mostly commercial. In the early days of the village, before the wall, trolls attacked and one did not get out in time. It turned to stone atop a hill, thus naming this district.
Old Orchard
Again, aptly named. This area contains an orchard of apple trees and cherry blossoms that have been standing longer than anyone can remember.
The town hall is located here, with a governor being the “head” of the council.
The council is made up of 4 individuals, each one representing one of the four elements, and traditionally a genasi.
North Gate -
This area is known for constant light snow. However, it never gets more than a foot deep.
Occasionally, there will be a blizzard. But this only occurs once every 5 years or so.
Mostly middle-class here. The view is pretty, but the snow is annoying to some.
Moon Borough -
It is always night time here, and mostly clear with the occasional cloud drifting lazily by. It is always about 70 degrees fahrenheit here.
This district has become home to a commune of young druids, home of public farming lands, and farmer’s markets.
Occasionally, someone will go missing from the commune, but no one seems to remember them ever being there in the first place.
The Springs -
Natural hot springs, pleasant spas and resorts.
Home of the upper class, and is a high-income area. The spas and resorts bring in alot of money to the town.
Stormshade -
This district is plagued by perpetual thunderstorms.
This is where you will find the poor of the city, the homeless and urchins. The more sketchy businesses operate here, including most blacksmiths and armorers.
Town only has 3 Taverns/Inns
The Queen’s Fox
Found in Troll Hill
Made of Sandstone.
Frequented by Commoners
Has a reputation for being a Rumour Mill.
Large Tapestries line the walls, portraying a white fox running through various scenes of legendary/mythical beasts.
The Fox seems to beckon you closer somehow, but when you get close to it, the sensation fades. If asked, the Barkeep tells you that they are cursed, but a strong protective magic is in place to prevent the curse from taking hold on anyone.
The atmosphere is pleasant, even festive almost.
The entire establishment smells of ale and wood, but not in an unpleasant way.
The Golden Moon
Found in the Moon Borough
Made of Lime Mortar and Stone
This bar may appear to be a kind of “hippy” spot, but it is actually the headquarters of the local thieves' guild. It happens to be owned and operated by The Faceless.
The furniture is all simple wooden tables and chairs.
The inn is frequented by primarily the sailors from the river, and smells of the smoked fish that is frequently ordered here.
A marble fireplace burns at all times. It burns a green flame that produces simple, yet pleasant, musical tones.
The inn has a hidden underground room that is used for clandestine meetings. The price of entry however, is one pint of blood. It can be gained from multiple sources, but must be poured onto the handle of the room to unlock it.
The Blushing Ivy
Located in Northgate
Made of Wattle and Daub (sticks and mud)
The tavern is artistic in both design, and clientele.
Frequented by artists, bards, guild members, craftsmen, etc…
The tables and benches are long, and encourage people to sit next to strangers and share talents and stories.
The atmosphere is lively, bordering on boisterous. Performances occur near constantly, with the occasional fight over stage time. The whole establishment smells of lavender.
Perhaps the most distinctive feature, however, is the Cat at the bar. Not a tabaxi, but a house cat, Mittens has been at the Blushing Ivy since it’s opening.
