Asel Lenora
With a population of ~80,000, Asel Lenora is the largest city in the nation of Ashax. The capitol of the nation, the city holds the royal palace as well as the royal council chambers. While the city is walled, they have an "open doors" policy where anyone can come and go from the city as they please. The only exceptions to this policy are those who have been banished from the city, or hostile military forces. Everyone within the city is expected to follow all laws and regulations, or face the discipline of the famed "Gilded Guard" that protects the cobbled streets.
Government:
The City of Asel Lenora is technically ran by the Monarchy directly. However, it has become a type of tradition to have the royal chamberlain act in a Mayoral capacity.
Districts:
There are 11 districts that make up the city.
The Castle Ward
Home to the royal palace and council chambers.
Seat of the government
The only people with access are those who work in the ward, or have been specifically invited by an authorized staff member.
The Park
A massive forest found right in the heart of the city.
Here people can enjoy all of the activities one could find in a forest, but with the safety of the Gilded Guard's protection and clearly marked signs and paths.
Note: Hunting is strictly prohibited unless using approved hunting equipment from the parks department
Long Chapel
Home to generally the wealthier merchants and nobility of the city, Long Chapel is known for it's high end shops and beautiful gardens.
Named such as the long main road in the district ends directly at the steps of an old chapel. The chapel is currently undergoing restorative reconstruction.
West District
Named for being on the western side of the main roads, this district is home to primarily business and entertainment venues.
Sunset Quarter
Famed for its spectacularly breathtaking views of the sunset, this district is home to primarily rentals, spas, and resorts.
While typically only affordable by the rich, the royal family pays for every registered citizen to have a 3 day vacation at the resort of their choice every year. The policy was started by the current Queen 72 years ago. She is quoted as saying, "One of my favorite memories in my long life is enjoying a frozen desert with my family while watching the sunset. Every single citizen deserves to make those types of memories, regardless of their financial or social status."
Wine Pole
Famous for it's wineries, this district is home to the annual festival of the vine.
Over 500,000gp worth of wine is produced here annually.
Windmile
Before the city erected the monolith here, strange magics caused wind to blow so powerfully that it felt like a running a mile after crossing the square.
Short Crown
About 60 years ago, a gnome stole the crown and hid in this district in an attempt to lay low. They were unsuccessful, and the district was renamed as a way to forever shame the thief.
Cloud Cliff
Built between the city walls and the edge of a large cliff, this district overlooks the river ports. In foggy weather, the entire district will often disappear into the low flying clouds.
Narrow Song
Surrounded by Merkhwald forces, this section of the city wall fell, revealing a narrow opening that could be used to penetrate the city's defenses. A lone bard stood in the gap, and was able to hold the Merkhwald armies at bay long enough for secondary defenses to be erected.
The Rocks
Galeb Duhr took up residence here and have since refused to leave. They do not cause any negative effects aside from the occasional road blockage or squashed garden.
